How do I apply?
Internships will be posted on the Ross Off-Campus Job Board on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. Students should apply directly through the Job Board following the individual internship application instructions.
Who is eligible to apply?
MBA1s, Evening MBAs graduating no earlier than December following the internship, and BBA juniors are eligible to apply. Non-business school students, graduating students, and BBA sophomores are currently not eligible for the program. There are no restrictions on international students either.
Where are the projects typically located?
Our partners will change annually. We will always have internships in Southeast Michigan, as well as other locations across the world, but primarily domestic. These other locations may include New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., London, and Boston.
What deliverables are required from interns during their project?
You will be asked to complete a letter of engagement with your project supervisor within the first two weeks of your internship. The letter of engagement will outline the steps you will take to complete the project and identify agreed upon deliverables. We also require all students to submit biweekly updates, a final report (including completed project deliverables), testimonial, and an online program evaluation.
As a representative of the University and the Center, we expect students to maintain a high-level of integrity and professionalism.
How long are the internships?
The internships are 10 weeks in length, typically between May and July. The start and end date may be negotiated, however students must complete ten weeks of work.
How many hours will I be expected to work?
Interns are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week throughout their project. Students are expected to meet all requirements of a site organization as if they were a full-time employee. Any significant adjustments to the work schedule requires approval from both their project supervisor and the Center staff.
How much will I get paid?
For a 10-week assignment, MBA students have historically received a stipend of $10,000 and BBA students $6,000. Since this is a financial aid disbursement, you will likely receive a tax benefit not available to other internships. Most years interns also receive an additional signing bonus as well as a travel stipend.
How will I receive my stipend?
Stipends are divided throughout the summer and made via direct deposit, with $500 withheld until all deliverables are received. If you are selected to be an intern, the dates of payments will be given to you at an orientation session.
Do you give additional financial support for travel?
Students placed in out-of-state locations will be able to submit a travel reimbursement for most costs associated with travel to and from your project. Students are expected to pay for their daily transportation expenses to their sites.
Is housing provided for me?
No. Students are responsible for arranging and paying for their housing throughout the summer.
Am I provided insurance and/or health coverage?
Students are responsible for having their own proper insurance and medical coverage. These services are not provided for by our program or hosting organization.
